Associate Editor Hildur Harðardóttir
Hildur Harðardóttir, MD
Hildur Hardardottir is a newly appointed associate editor for the AOGS. She is currently working as a consultant in obstetrics & gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine at the National University Hospital in Reykjavík, Iceland and as an associate professor (docent) at the University of Iceland, faculty of Medicine. She has been on the editorial board of the Icelandic Medical Journal.
She graduated with a MD degree in 1984 from the University of Iceland and subsequently studied at the University of Little Rock, Arkansas, USA and during that time she was a NATO science research fellow. She completed residency training program in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1994 at the University of Connecticut, USA and graduated from the University of Connecticut Fellowship program in Maternal-Fetal Medicine in 1996. She then transferred to Iceland and has worked as chief of obstetrics and prenatal diagnosis services at the University Hospital in Reykjavík, Iceland for the past 16 years. Also, she has been a faculty member at the University of Iceland, from 1999 and onwards, and is currently an associate professor.
She is active in the Nordic Network for Fetal Medicine, a member of the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine and a founding member of the IS-AIP (International Society for Abnormally Invasive Placentation). Main interests are fetal screening and diagnosis, maternal diabetes, both type I and gestational diabetes and the complications for mother and infant, as well as maternal obesity and nutrition, and clinical obstetrics and its complications. She has recently received a grant from Landspitali University Hospital to study infections following cesarean delivery and modalities to reduce the risk of post-procedural infections.
